Hill Surgical Workshop
Surgical Skills Simulation Training

Medical skills were previously acquired by supervised practice in an apprenticeship system. Due to decreasing patient availability, the increasing demand for a rapidly growing number of complex and potentially hazardous procedures, and the rising number of trainees, the opportunity to become competent in a medical skill using traditional training methods is diminishing.

Hill Surgical Workshop
Research at CTEC

Our research at CTEC explores the frontier of surgical simulation in collaboration with the Medical School at The University of Western Australia. Current projects focus on proficiency-based progression, metric assessment of surgical skills, novel curriculum development and the validation of advanced simulation models, including laparoscopic techniques and fresh-frozen cadaver labs.
