Doctors at RMO level and above who have completed CTEC’s Core Skills or JDocs: Foundations of Minimal Access Surgery are welcome.

Overview
This workshop will increase technical skills in two handed operative techniques on realistic animal tissue models and hone the ability to tie intracorporeal knots.
Practical sessions feature a dedicated work station for each participant, with assistance provided by a medical student camera operator.
Workshop Content
The workshop will focus on the following tasks:
- Principles of laparoscopic surgery and access
- Handling of suture material and needle
- Intracorporeal suturing
- Intracorporeal knot tying
Practical Animal Tissue Based Surgical Skill Stations:
- Laparoscopic appendicectomy
- Advanced laparoscopic suturing techniques (utilising tissue)
- Small bowel stapling techniques
- Enterotomy closure and anastomoses
- Laparoscopic repair of perforation and patch repair
It utilises a range of animal tissue and synthetic models for the practical skill stations.
The workshop will also feature case scenarios and discussions, whilst also allowing sufficient time to practise skills.
