Overview

The General Surgery Gastrointestinal Endoscopy workshop will deliver exceptional training within a simulated environment, equipping participants with the skills to execute these procedures safely and effectively, for diagnostic and certain therapeutic interventions.

It is intended that participants will deepen their understanding and confidence in the Core level training standards required for certification with the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

This workshop utilises animal tissue simulation models to provide Trainees with fundamental knowledge of the structure, function and ergonomics of endoscopy. It explores the basics of gastroscopy and colonoscopy, trouble shooting and handling, an introduction to basic and intermediate endoscopy and interventions, the concept of looping and how to avoid it and the complications of scopes.  The workshop will conclude with a participant Quiz focusing on workshop content.

Plenty of hands-on time with scopes and activities.
The faculty were so helpful and approachable and seemed to have a wealth of skill and knowledge.
I am about to start a job that will have lots of scopes so I am really excited.
